History of White's Ferry Grill

We took over White's Ferry Grill in early 2019 after seeing what an incredible opportunity it was to bring the highest-quality fresh and delicious food to the Dickerson area.  We are Poolesvile locals, and understand the importance of having a quick and reliable go-to establishment in the area to keep our community connected.

This store has seen it all! It has served hundreds of loyal customers, including hikers and cyclists traveling along the C&O Canal from Philly to DC, and near-devastating flood waters (see below). But we stand strong in our desire to supply a needed service in conjunction with the commuters Historic White's Ferry!

So, what's the ferry all about?

We do not own or operate the ferry but have a deep appreciation for its history.

Historic White's Ferry is the last of 100 ferries that used to operate on the Potomac River. It has been in operation since 1782. This ferry connects White's Ferry Road in Montgomery County, Maryland to White's Ferry Road in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Cars, motorcycles, cyclists and even pedestrians line up and load up onto the ferry by using what looks to be a boat ramp. Once loaded, the ferry is guided by a wire cable to the other side of the Potomac River.
